The Growth of Faith in the Christian Life
How does a person grow in faith? The Bible tells us.
Stand fast in - "Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong" (1 Corinthians 16:13).
Continue in - "...strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God" (Acts 14:32).
Be strong in - He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore "it was accounted to him for righteousness."
Now was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead (Romans 4:20-24).
Abound in - But as you abound in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence and in your love for us--see that you abound in this grace also (2 Corinthians 8:7).
Be grounded in - "...if indeed you continue in faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the Gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul became a minister" (Colossians 1:23).
Hold fast - "...having faith and a good conscience which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck" (1 Timothy 1:19).
Pray for increase of - And the apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith" (Luke 17:5).
Have assurance of - For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know Whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day (2 Timothy 1:12).
