Whom or What We Have Faith in
In Whom or on what do we place our faith?
God - "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me" (John 14:1). Some people believe in God, the Father, but they don't believe in Jesus. We must believe in Jesus because it is through Him that we have salvation and eternal life.
Christ - "...but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name" (John 20:31).
Moses' writings - "For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me" (John 5:46).
Writings of the prophets - "King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe" (Acts 26:27). In verse 28, the king told the apostle Paul that he almost persuaded him to become a Christian.
Gospel - ...and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand (has drawn near) Repent, and believe in the Gospel" (Mark 1:15).
Acts 15:7 - And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them: "Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the Gospel and believe." Peter was referring to Cornelius, the centurion and his relatives and close friends. They received the Holy Spirit, magnified God and were baptized because they had believed the Gospel message about Jesus Christ (Acts 10).
God's promises - "and being fully convinced that what He has promised He was also able to perform" (Romans 4:21). The promises of God were kept by faith. We see that in Romans 4:20, 21: He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. Paul is talking about Abraham, the father of faith. And, in Hebrews 11:13-40, the faith chapter, we see different people who had faith in the promises of God. "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
We can safely trust in the promises of God. No matter how long they may take, they will always be fulfilled.
