Access to God (Part One)
In order to gain access to an event, an office building or even our homes, we would need something like a ticket, an office pass or a key. It’s no different with God. How do we get access to Him?
Well, we have access to God by the following means:
Christ – Jesus Himself declared that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the only way to the Father. “No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6)
Christ’s blood – it is what brings us near, reconciles us to the Father (Ephesians 2:13).
The Holy Spirit – through Jesus, we have access to the Father by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:18). He was promised by God.
Faith – through Jesus, we have access to the Father by faith. This faith brings us into the grace in which we stand (Romans 5:2)
Clean hands – clean hands and a pure heart enable us to stand in God’s holy place. Clean hands are free from guilt, lean, innocent, exempt, free from punishment and a pure heart is clear, sincere, clean. Those who have not lifted up their souls to idols nor sworn deceitfully, have access to God. They may ascend into the hill of the Lord. Such people will receive blessings from Him and righteousness (Psalm 24:3-5).
God’s grace – it is by His grace that God has made us accepted in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:6).
Prayer – Jesus encourages us to pray to our Father in private, in the secret place and the Father who sees in secret will openly reward us (Matthew 6:6)
I would add God’s Word to the list. We learn more about God through our study of the Scriptures. God speaks to us through His Word. It is how we have access to the will, purpose, plans and mind of God. Some people call His Word, His love letter to us. I see it as Him speaking to each of us personally and transforming our lives.
