The Place of Faith in the Christian's Life

What is the place in a Christian's life?  What roles does it play in the life of a believer?

Live by - For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith" (Romans 1:17).

Walk by - "...and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised" (Romans 4:12).

Pray by - "And all things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive" (Matthew 21:22).

Resist evil by - "...above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one" (Ephesians 6:16).

Overcome the world by - John addresses the fathers who have known God, the Father and the young men who have overcome the wicked one.  The young men have overcome the wicked one because they are strong and the Word of God abides in them.

John urges us not to love the world or the things in it because if anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

"For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world.  And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever" (1 John 2:13-17).

"For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.  And this is the victory that has overcome the world.  And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.  Who is he overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" (1 John 5:4, 5).

Die in - These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth (Hebrews 11:13).
