What Causes Faith

What causes faith?  What does it result from? Well, the Bible tells us.

The Scriptures - "And truly, Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book:  but these are written in that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name (John 20:30, 31).

1 John 5:13 - "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God."

"...and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 3:15).

Preaching - "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word (John 17:20).

Gospel - And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them: "Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the Word of the Gospel and believe" (Acts 15:7).

People also come to faith by seeing their parents or other people living godly lives or how they cope with personal tragedies.  How my husband and I dealt with the loss of our son, our faith in God who had been our strong Tower during that terrible time had been seen by others and caused them to marvel. One Christian woman said that her faith had been strengthened by our faith and another person, marveled at the fact that I was comforting her when she was in tears rather than the other way around.  The way we live and our faith in God can be powerful testimonies which can bring others to Him.
